Since South Carolina won the championship in 2010 and 2011, no team has won the Men’s College World Series consecutively.
Vanderbilt is only one victory away from making history and becoming the sixth team to achieve this feat. On the other hand, Mississippi now hopes to win two consecutive victories from Commodores and eventually reach the pinnacle of the college baseball world and win the program’s first national championship.
The Bulldogs had a promising start on Monday, leading 1-0, but Seven games in the second half of the first game Vanderbilt and starting pitcher Jack Wright provided everything needed to win the first game of the series.
On Tuesday, Mississippi State University need not worry about Wright. Kumar Rocker pitches on Friday, so he will either take a short break or be held until Wednesday to participate in the third game as needed. The Bulldogs knew that their bullpen could only allow one run and two hits in the last seven innings of Monday’s game to close the brigadier general.
Commodores may lead the series, but it is too early to exclude Mississippi State. Christian Little of Vanderbilt will face Houston Harding of Mississippi State University.
