1.) Hermann Park
If you like a relaxing day, it may be one of the best things to do in Houston, Herman Park is great for strolling.
Herman Park is close to Hoston’s largest museum and has many attractions worth exploring. From the gorgeous Japanese garden, the Miller Outdoor Theater to the very cute Hermann Park Railway-you will love to visit.
In addition, if you have time, be sure to visit the nearby Natural Science Museum and the Holocaust Museum. Both are great places that you should not miss.
Finally, let yourself pass for an informal lunch Turkey Leg Hut (On Almeida Road). Their crab macaroni and cheese and turkey legs are everything!
2.) BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir
The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir (temple) is located on the southwestern edge of Houston and is very beautiful. Not only that, it is also the largest place in Texas, so it is worth a visit.

3.) Fine Arts Museum

4.) Buffalo Bayou Park
Buffalo Bayou Park is a beautiful city park with many attractions, perfect for a relaxing day in Houston. Including skate parks, playgrounds (for children), picnic pavilions and tributaries, this is a place that truly allows you to relax and rest on the city streets.
Not only that, it is also a great place to enjoy kayaking and paddling on warm sunny days.
Afterwards, stroll to Sawyer Yards and Silo (In Sawyer Code).
This is a great little station to visit delicious food vendors, enjoy street art and listen to live music at certain times of the week. The atmosphere is really cool.
5.) San Jacinto Park
Away from downtown Houston? Walk into San Jacinto Park and explore the beautiful parts of the city. On sunny days, the park’s grounds are not only great for walking; but it also has a lot of history about this site.
You see, this is the San Jacinto Battlefield National Historic Site, and there are museums and monuments to visit. After paying a small fee to enter, you will be able to wander around the exhibits and learn more about Texas’ independence from Mexico in 1939.
In addition, you can also enjoy incredible views from the top! This alone makes it one of the best events in Houston.
After returning to the city center, head to Tacos A Go Go for spicy tacos and tortillas. Again, this is not a fancy place, but the dishes are very good!
6.) Houston Children’s Museum
Yes, if you haven’t realized it by now, Houston has many museums to explore; they are all very good!
For family entertainment, head to the Children’s Museum of Houston, which is great for kids (and older kids).
Once here, you will see science and technology exhibitions as well as historical, cultural and art exhibitions that make their permanent collection so special.
After spending a morning at the museum, head to Lucille’s Because of their delicious southern brunch. Their chicken and waffles will fill you up!
If you want to get away from downtown Houston, hop in the car and head to the coastline of Galveston.
Full of beautiful beaches, kitsch amusement parks and Amusement pier, Is the kind of place where you can play all day.
To be honest, Galveston has a lot of epic things to do and explore, perfect for a time away from the city itself
Once here, you can’t miss the best beaches in Galveston. Some of the favorites are; East Beach, Stewart Beach, Poreto Beach and St. Louis Beach. Be sure to bring sunscreen; the wind will make you think that the sun is not so strong!
Oh, and don’t forget to visit the historic east side of Galveston and the Bishop’s Palace (sometimes called Gresham Castle), which is gorgeous.
Its history can be traced back to the 1800s, which is breathtaking.
In addition, if you plan to take a full-day trip from the city, be sure to stop at NASA’s Johnson Space Center. This place is great, you can learn more about space exploration, and even see some real-life rockets and space shuttles!
8.) Gerald D. Hines Water Wall
The Gerald D. Hines water wall is very unique and completely Houston, it is a place you should not miss. Yes, this is a man-made waterfall, but it is incredibly powerful. It is actually a very cool attraction next to Williams Tower.

You see, inside is the world-famous paleontology museum that you should not miss. Here, you can explore dinosaur fossils and many exhibition halls, including space station models and mineral specimens.
You will also see some Egyptian exhibitions and the butterfly center of the museum (I mentioned it before).
If you want to drink a little wine later, go to the relaxing Natachee’s Supper’n Punch. Not far from the breakfast club I mentioned earlier, it is a good place for a drink.
