Declan Kelly has resigned as chairman and chief executive officer of Teneo, a global strategy company, and was accused of drunkenness and improper conduct at a fundraising concert just a few days ago.
The company said in a statement on Tuesday that Kelly will be replaced by co-founder and chief operating officer Paul Keary, “effective immediately.”
The statement said: “We would like to thank Declan for the leadership and dedication in building Teneo into a global outstanding CEO consulting company over the past ten years.”
Kelly has been removed from the board of directors of Global Citizen, the campaign group hosting the concert.
A spokesperson for Kelly told the Financial Times last week that the executive “temporarily reduced his job responsibilities,” “committed to staying awake,” and “is receiving continuous consultation from healthcare professionals.”
